Updated XT Latitude XT2
Today Dell released their updated XT Latitude XT2 which was among the first to develop multitouch capabilities. The profound changes touched its internal organs: it now packs a Centrino 2 platform and DDR3 memory (with a max of 5GB). The grillage has undergone negligeable alterations. The lid now has the Dell logo in the corner (rather than in the center) and there are three shortcut buttons on the screen instead of four. The 12.1 inch 1280 x 800 resolution display was brightened by doubling the nits. And the new version appeared to be by long odds brighter. Capacitive touch screen which coupled with N-Trig's DuoSense is probably the most prominent option of the XT2. As distinguished from XT, the XT2 works right out of the box. Computer system will operate with Windows 7 at a later date, though at present it manages with Vista. Light taps on the screen were responsive and navigating through Vista's Start Menu with a finger was a breeze. Multitouch gestures display resembling features as the original XT. In Windows Photo Gallery it was possible to zoom in pictures with two fingers and with ease to make whole. In Google Earth we were able to zoom in on the state of California with two fingers and then pan to a city. Among the latest options is the ability to windmill images. It is worthy of note that rotating the earth around in Google Earth favours greater then distortion pictures in Photo Gallery. Without peradventure the HP Touchsmart Tx2 stand down in relation to finger motions on the screen, we would prefer subsidiary members of the multitouch capability. All in all it would be nice to conduct a test as well as to check out the video of the $2,000 Dell Latitude XT2.
