The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 has rewied by NotebookReview and PC World.

The Inspiron Mini 9 is available at a nominal price of $349 and a starting weight of 2.28 pounds. The gadget comes with up to 16GB of solid state drive capacity, up to 1GB of RAM, an 8.9-inch LED backlit display, Intel's Atom processor, a 4-cell battery and Windows XP Home or Ubuntu Linux OS. According to NBR the netbook can be characterized as easy handling, well-set-up, small and light, substantial, quiet and comprehensible. Its display is "nice and vibrant with rich colors and good contrast", the same as quick-response touchpad.

Like many others the Mini 9 has quite typical problems (bad keyboard, a small battery that could have been bigger without sacrificing much size or weight and heat, annoying glossy plastics). From NBR point of view the Mini has no F11 or F12 keys and other function keys leave much to be designed. The gadget can be characterized as a ruggedized mini-laptop.

PC World's conclusion was that -"The Inspiron Mini 9 isn't accomplished, but it does offer a horrifying design and an impressive price. I would have a tough time choosing this over Acer's Aspire One, but Dell's first venture into the world of mini-notebooks has produced a worthy competitor," UPDATE: Laptop Magazine also posted today review and hands-on video of the Mini.
