Asus Eee PC (4G) Was Seriously Tested

Laptop Magazine, NotebookReview, TrustedReviews, PC Magazine, and CNet decided to test the Asus Eee PC, being in good request ultraportable notebook computer.

In the United States you will manage to find three Asus Eee PC model: the white and black Eee PC 4G models priced at $400, as well as the Eee PC 4G Surf version in white color for $350.

Lightweight two pounds laptops comes with4GB of storage capacity, 7-inch displays with a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels512MB of system memory, a web camera, a built-in 802.11b/g wireless module, the Intel Celeron M processor at 900MHz and 910GML chipset with the GMA 900 integrated graphics, a VGA output, an Ethernet LAN connection, a media card reader and three USB ports. Unfortunately the Eee PC 4G, the 4G Surf wasn't rigged with a built-in webcam. The Surf model boosts a battery life of up to 2.8 hours.

A Linux-based user interface provides six simple options: Settings, Learn, Internet, Favorites Play and Work. You will also get the OpenOffice 2.0, free software, including the Firefox web browser, various games a media player application, a lot of Skype, the Photo Manager and an instant messenger.

According to Laptop Magazine, the Eee PC should appeal to kids and grandparents alike, but it feels a lack of drivers for the webcam and no mobile broadband support, new applications are difficult to find and load.

NotebookReview points the Asus Eee PC is easy to use laptop, which is reasonably well built and durable, but a lack of Microsoft Windows pre-installed is a negative for some buyers.

TrustedReviews stated the Asus Eee PC is "refreshingly innovative and scandalously cheap". PC Magazine insists the Eee PC is an "amazing bargain", but it is not efficacious enough to pass audio and video from an outward optical drive. CNet proved that the Eee PC's transistorized hard drive is fast and efficient, but the laptop has a low screen resolution for work.
